Well friends, to say this first blog post is bitter-sweet is an understatement. Today is a very emotional day and since I am writing this ahead of my little end-of-work party, I am hopeful I managed to keep it all together (???) I was with Cenovus for 13 years. It was an amazing experience. I met the most fantastic people - some whom I hope to stay friends with for the rest of my life.
Calgary has been my home for 23 years and I don't officially leave until Tuesday, but the goodbye process is in full swing. Country Thunder this weekend with great friends, a last goodbye dinner with my very best girlfriends on Monday and then Daniel and Jacob help me, Zooey and Tucker get packed and to the airport on Tuesday in time for our flight to Barcelona. Ron will pick us up, we will drive the 5ish hours to Toulon, France and our adventure will begin. The general 15-year plan is the Med until Jan 2026 (France, Turkiye, Greece, Italy, Spain, Tunisia, Morocco, Croatia), cross the Atlantic (14 days of straight sailing), hang out in the Caribbean/BVIs for 4-5 years, then South America, then head West...Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, Thailand...
Holy f***!!!!!
Thank you for taking an interest in our journey. Our plan is to add a blog post every 2 weeks and we plan to post a YouTube video every month. Our intention is to be attractive and interesting (lol!). The latter will be easier than the former - as newbie travel bloggers, we'll see how well we execute.
Also, thanks to my fancy dancy husband, if you are curious about where we happen to be situated at any given point in time, you can see our GPS position on the home page of our website. For extra fun, it is plotted against real-time wind conditions care of the Windy app.
Check back often. Follow us on the socials (links on the home page). And maybe become inspired to figure out your 'sailboat' and retire a little earlier than you ever expected to. Life is short - don't waste a single minute.
So, here we go.
